By ERIC OBERMAN More than 13 years after the Tompkins County Public Library moved to its current location on Green Street, the County is considering various options for commercially developing its old building on North Cayuga Street. Since the library moved out in the fall of 2000, the space — valued at $1.5 million — has been occupied by various other government agencies, according to Michael Lane (D-14th District), chair of the Tompkins County Legislature. Franklin Properties, MCK Building Associates, STREAM Collaborative, Taitem Engineering and Dr. Marne O’Shae, MD seek to redevelop the Old Library Building as the Cayuga Community Education Center for Lifelong Wellness, a five-story building with 32 housing units and commercial space occupied by Lifelong, a number of medical and wellness practices, and a café.
