Emergency phones across the Ithaca campus are currently experiencing a partial service outage, according to an alert from the Cornell University Division of Public Safety.
CUDPS sent an alert to University emails at 10:30 a.m. notifying Cornellians that some calls from physical phones on campus, including blue light phones, elevator phones and emergency phones, could not connect correctly to the Public Safety Center or could disconnect mid-call. Ring Central physical phones and computer and mobile apps were not affected.
According to the statement, Cornell Information Technologies and CUDPS are working with external vendors to investigate the outage and will provide further information when services are restored.
“CIT and Cornell Public Safety are working with external vendors to investigate the issue and will update the campus when services are restored. Updates will be posted at https://emergency.cornell.edu/,” the statement reads.
In an email sent to students on Sept. 17, the Division of Public Safety announced that the outage “has been resolved,” and that calls will "connect successfully to the Public Safety Communications Center.”
Emergencies on the Ithaca campus should be reported using a cell phone and dialing 607-255-1111 or 911.
Update, Sept. 18, 5:50 p.m.: This article has been updated to explain that the partial service outage ended on Sept. 17.
