The Zyns will replace The Chainsmokers as headliner for Slope Day 2026, the programming board announced at 4:20 p.m. on Monday. This replacement comes after The Chainsmokers informed the Slope Day Programming Board of a “scheduling conflict” during the eleventh-hour, late Sunday night.

“We’ve made a severe and continuous lapse in our judgment,” the programming board wrote in an Instagram apology, in reference to picking a band that ended up totally flaking.

Sources close to the Chainsmokers, a pop and electronic dance music duo, told The Sun they had recently booked plane tickets to Santorini, Greece for May 2.

“They thought the school was in Ithaca, Greece,” said the anonymous source, who was granted anonymity out of fear of losing their spot behind the DJ booth.

The Zyns are a Swedish “pop-dungeon-synth-punk-adjacent” ska band known for their “infectious Zynnergy.” They have been described as “vivacious,” “intoxicating” and “totally ferd[a]” by the Rolling Paper.

Students expressed mixed feelings about the change.

“Like, a drunk cig with the boys is calm but nothing beats an upper decky lip pillow for the night,” said Brad Chadderson ’29.

“Cigarettes are so Y2K indie sleaze though” said student Ami Niche ’28 in response to the cancellation. “The Chainsmokers were going to bring 2016 back. Now we are stuck in the hellscape that is our current reality. It’s just a bummer.”

Others point to the potentially problematic nature of Zyns.

“Last time I popped a 6 mg Cool Mint, I hurled all over my date for Sigma Ligma Date Night,” said Vom Guy ’27.

“At this point it honestly shouldn't be surprising,” said a member of the board who was granted anonymity because they ran away after dropping their quote. “This school sucks. I’m just glad I’m transferring to a school with Zara Larsson performing next year.”

Penjamin Franklin is a second-year studying nicotine and music.
