25-year-old Ithaca resident Autreyu Massaline has been charged with murder in the second degree. Massaline allegedly stabbed Edward Warren, a 54-year-old resident of Ithaca.
The Ithaca Police Department say that on July 24, they responded to a “911 call reporting a stabbing incident” and found Warren receiving assistance from bystanders on the scene. Warren was transferred to a regional trauma center after receiving emergency care from Bangs Ambulance medical personnel on-scene.
According to the Thursday press release, “Despite life-saving efforts” Warren “later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.”
On Sunday, the Ithaca Police Department sent out a press release that identified Massaline and his alleged offense. He was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail with no bail by Judge Richard Wallace.
Police say that this case is still “an active homicide investigation” and encourage those with information on the case to contact them, including individuals who wish to remain anonymous. The police tipline can be reached at 607-330-0000 and the Ithaca Police Department Tipline form can be utilized to submit information anonymously and confidentially.
