President Elizabeth Garrett was released from Intensive Care Unit but remains at Weill Cornell Medicine following surgery on Friday, according to Acting President and Provost Michael Kotlikoff.
“I remain in touch with her, and she has asked that I convey to you and the entire Cornell community her appreciation for all the well-wishes and prayers,” Kotlikoff said Monday.
Garrett announced her diagnosis of colon cancer on Feb. 8 and is pursuing “aggressive treatment.”
On Friday, Garrett underwent surgery and Kotlikoff assumed the duties and powers of the presidency, Board of Trustees chairman Robert S. Harrison ’76 announced.
