After a slow start last season that saw three losses in its first five contests, the Red (5-0-0, 2-0-0 ECAC) has come out of the gates swinging in 2025-2026 and has yet to trail in a game.
With the win, the Red improves to 5-0-0 for the first time since the 2019-2020 season.
Bergmann recorded her second shutout of the season and third career against Dartmouth in a dominant performance.
The Red’s 12 goals this season have come off the sticks of 10 different skaters.
“So many of my great memories happened in the dressing room here with the girls,” Jenner said. “We had such a great group, and I think that's what I think of. I think of the times on the bus, in the dressing room, and just all the fun that we had together.”
“It’s our first weekend as a team, but I think we played together and we started off [the season] on the right foot.”
Women’s hockey opened its 2025-2026 season with a commanding 3-0 win over Boston College on Friday afternoon at Lynah Rink.
“I thought that was an awesome first win for us,” said junior goaltender Annelies Bergmann.
“I think going into this season, being a veteran and being a player that is out there hopefully backstopping our team is going to be important this year. So I am excited to bring that experience.”
Avar established her potential last season; now it’s time to flourish.
“When people think of me, they’re like, ‘Oh, that's Connor McDavid’s cousin,’” McDavid said. “But I think something I’ve learned and especially through my family and their support is [how] I’m so proud of my last name and I’m so proud of how far Connor's come and what he’s been able to do.
“It’ll give a real championship feel to the event, it’s not just another game in another team's rink,” Derraugh said. “Lake Placid is a beautiful town and obviously the hockey history there … it will be a lot of fun.”
Six new skaters arrive in Ithaca this fall, including four forwards, one defender and a goaltender.
This year, no ECAC team on paper looks better than the Red, which is why Cornell was picked first in the pre-season coaches poll.
Senior defenders Grace Dwyer and Sarah MacEachern and senior forward Mckenna Van Gelder round out the group.
This season, the goal is clear: add to a trophy case that is still missing the ultimate prize.
