In December 2025, Opinion columnists Leah Badawi '27, Paul Caruso, MPA, and Lali Tobin, MPA, published "One to Rule Them All", a column which criticised The Sun Editorial Board's annual endorsement of Student Assembly candidates.
The Editorial Board, which is a collaborative team composed of the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor, and Opinion Editors, publish opinions that are independent of The Sun's news coverage, other columnists and advertisers but aim to represent The Sun’s long-standing values. The Editorial Board has often endorsed Student Assembly candidates based off of interviews they conduct with the contenders.
At the time Badawi, Caruso and Tobin challenged the process and called on the Editorial Board to "allow students to let their actions speak for themselves." With Spring elections for the Student Assembly now underway, Badawi and Caruso revisited their column and defended their stance in a conversation with Associate Editor Sophia Romanov Imber '26.
