The Red travelled to Philadelphia to take on the La Salle Explorers on Sunday afternoon. Cornell emerged with its third consecutive win of the 2025 season and the Red’s second victory in matchup history against the Explorers, who the Red defeated at home in October 2024.
The Red opened the scoring in the first quarter and carried this momentum throughout the game, scoring another goal less than a minute into the third quarter. These two shots secured the win for the Red against the Explorers, with a final score of 2-0.
During the game, the Red dominated possession, claiming 16 penalty corners and taking 33 shots to the Explorer’s four. Throughout the first three games of the season, the Red outshot its opponents 80-6 and outmatched competitors in penalty corners 39-5.
“We went into the Ramin Room on Saturday morning, and we trained harder than we’ve ever trained before,” said head coach Andy Smith. “We took the edge that we created on Saturday into Sunday.”
This hard work has had a clear impact on the team’s record this season, which improved to 3-0 after their latest win against La Salle.
The team aims to keep this momentum into the start of Ivy League play next week. The Red will travel to New York City to face off against Columbia in their conference opener on Sept. 19.
