Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit buses, its paratransit transport system through Gadabout Transportation Services and county recycling services will not be in operation Friday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Additionally, the Tompkins County Department of Recycling and Materials Management, the Recycling Solid Waste Center and city and TCAT administrative offices will be closed.
According to a press release from TCAT, bus services will resume operating this Saturday and both TCAT and city offices are scheduled to reopen on Monday, July 7. TCAT’s services are available all days of the year besides the following holidays: Independence Day, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Services are reduced on Labor Day.
Curbside recycling collection scheduled for Friday will instead be picked up on Saturday, July 5.
To receive curbside pickup reminders through call, text or email, residents can use the “Find My Recycling Day” tool at www.recycletompkins.org. Pickup dates are automatically changed for holidays with no recycling collection.
