It seems that Cornell has received its fair 15 minutes of television fame lately, what with Dwight’s Cornell-centric Office antics a few weeks ago. But Andy Bernard ’95 is only one fictional alumnus of our humble university. On Monday, Ithaca College TV debuted a new show, Ivy, which stars all of us—in a way.

The show, according to co-producer Rachel Hastings, an Ithaca sophomore, is “kind of a faux-reality show, like Laguna Beach, but written as a dry comedy and set at Cornell.” Aided by co-producer Ed Pietzak, a senior at I.C., Hastings wrote a script over the summer and set out to produce a truly unique project.

Police Investigate Death of William Jacobson

As the sun set over Ithaca College last night — ending the fourth long and emotion-filled day since freshman William Jacobson went missing — the I.C. community held a candlelit vigil. Jacobson was found dead yesterday morning when New York State Police found his body in a pond on Farm Road within the college’s campus.

The Ithaca Police Department and other authorities are currently investigating the case, I.C. President Peggy Williams wrote in a statement on the I.C. website.

Missing I.C. Student Found, Pronounced Dead

William Jacobson, 19, a freshman at Ithaca College, was pronounced dead this morning after divers from the New York State Police recovered his body from a pond on Farm Road on the I.C. campus at approximately 9:30 a.m. The Ithaca Police Department and other authorities are currently investigating the case, I.C. President Peggy Williams wrote in an email today.

Late Monday night, the IPD and the Ithaca College Office of Public Safety began searching for Jacobson, who had been missing since approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Jacobson was last seen leaving a party held at a residence on Grandview Avenue and was believed to be returning to his room.

I.C. Student Allegedly Raped in Dorm Room

An Ithaca College student reported that she was raped last Sunday around 1:30 a.m. in her Emerson Hall dormitory room. According to The Ithacan, the female student returned to her room to find an unknown assailant waiting for her. There was no sign of forced entry into the room. The student reported the rape almost 12 hours later.

The male was identified to be Hispanic, about 170 pounds, 5’10’’ inches, with a thin build and no facial hair. He was also seen wearing loose jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt and red fitted hat, according to News 10 Now.
