New York Attorney General Cuomo Greeted by Praise and Protest in Ithaca

Amidst an array of signs and slogans calling to “tax the rich” and end hydrofracking, New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo addressed over 200 residents of Ithaca and the surrounding area last Thursday at the Ithaca Women’s Community Building. In his speech, Cuomo outlined his “Five Step Program for a New N.Y.,” promising to bring reform and order to the state government in Albany. The visit was a campaign stop for Cuomo, the Democratic nominee for governor of New York State.

Senators Grill Attorney General Nominee

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senators want to know whether Attorney General-nominee Michael Mukasey would uphold the administration's view of executive power, the president's eavesdropping program and a legal shield for reporters before they confirm him as So far, Mukasey has told senators he will reject any White House meddling in Justice Department matters and resign if his legal or ethical concerns about administration policy are ignored.

Senate confirmation seemed all but certain, but members of the Senate Judiciary Committee have more questions for him.
