I Heart iPad

Rahul Kishore  —  Apr 1, 2010

Well hello there.  If you’ve ever read the sports section you may know who I am and if you have, don’t hold it against me.  If you don’t flip the paper over and read the back page before the front, aka you’re not a normal person, then let me introduce myself.  My name is Rahul Kishore, and I am a slave of The Cornell Daily Sun.

For those of you who have read my Sports column you’d probably think I’m someone who doesn’t know a lot about sports.  Well congratulations, you got me.  But what you might not know is, I actually like gadgets, in fact — I love gadgets. Why? They’re shiny, and they do what they’re told … most of the time. So you ask, dear reader, “What is it that’s catching your eye this week, Rahul? Is it that hot thing at Johnny O’s?” No.  Although this sexy little slab of aluminum is thin, light and easy to use, she’s not going to be found at a bar (at least I don’t think so).  In case you’ve been living under a rock recently, my crush is the iPad.

Nice Shoes, Wanna Bump?

They say that alcohol and technology don’t mix — I beg to differ. I’ve always been a little on the geeky side, especially when it comes to the Saturday night bar crawls. And while a few shots of tequila certainly can make for a fun evening, a careful (or not so careful) mix of alcohol and technology can make a good night even more memorable. Thanks to Apple, there is literally an App for everything — including your social life.

There's an app for that.

Best iPhone Applications

Chris Barnes  —  Feb 19, 2009

A fact little known to most people is that, on top of being the best smartphone on the market, the iPhone is also a fantastic gaming device. The iTunes App Store is the ultimate candy shop for gamers, where you can easily spend hundreds of dollars on amazing titles without even breeching the surface of offerings. As an iPhone owner who is also a gamer, I have a few favorites of my own.

Apple Will Allow Third-Party Applications on iPhone

The Associated Press  —  Oct 17, 2007

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — In an apparent about-face, Apple Inc. will allow third-party applications to work directly on the iPhone, Chief Executive Steve Jobs said in a posting on the company's Web site Wednesday.

Apple infuriated developers and some iPhone users when it issued a software update Sept. 27 that disabled unofficial programs installed on the handsets.

Until Wednesday, Apple had tried to control which applications consumers had on their iPhones.

Now, Jobs said the company intends to release a software development kit in February that will let coders create applications to work directly on the iPhone and the iPod Touch. The Touch is the new iPod portable player that resembles the iPhone but lacks the function of a cell phone.
