Men's Hockey Shuts Out Harvard in Cambridge for First Time Since 1967

Reena Gilani  —  Feb 22, 2010

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –– Senior goaltender Ben Scrivens managed his 16th career shutout on Friday night at Harvard, helping the Red to a 3-0 victory over the Crimson on Friday night. This shutout –– his fifth of the season –– leaves Scrivens only two shy of the University record for most career shutouts, currently held by David McKee. It was also the first shutout that the Red has claimed over the Crimson away from Ithaca since 1967, and this had the numerous Cornell fans at Harvard’s rink –– affectionately called Lynah East –– bursting with excitement.

The men’s basketball team has a golden opportunity to make people forget last weekend’s stunning loss to Penn. The Red (21-4, 7-1 Ivy) face the Harvard Crimson (17-5, 6-2 Ivy) in Cambridge, Mass., tonight. A Cornell win would firmly place the Red in the driver’s seat in its quest for a third-straight Ivy League title.

Much Ado About Nothing

Matthew Manacher  —  Feb 1, 2010

It was billed by many college basketball analysts as the early season Ivy League game that would ultimately decide the 2009-10 conference champion. It was the game that would settle which of the eight Ivies will be dancing in March. Although Cornell has 10 conference games remaining, the Red took a significant step forward in claiming its third-consecutive Ancient Eight championship Saturday evening with an 86-50 drubbing of Harvard.
