The Red traveled to Binghamton last night, where the team defeated the Bearcats at 7 p.m.
The Red bested Binghamton in a tight 60-56 match-up with three minutes left, despite a double-digit lead for Cornell early in the second half, which Binghamton matched with a 20-2 run.
Junior guard Allyson DiMagno led the team with 17 points and eight rebounds. Also, senior forward Clare Fitzpatrick scored 13 points, including a 5-for-5 performance from the free throw line, while junior guard Shelby Lyman grabbed 10 points and six assists for the night to top of the scoring for Cornell.
This weekend, Cornell will face off against Syracuse at home on Friday at 5:30 p.m. This marks the second week in a row that the team will open the week with a game on the road followed by a late-week matchup at Newman Arena.
The game versus the Orange will be part of a double-header with the men’s team, which takes on St. Peter’s at 8 p.m. The game against Syracuse continues to be the oldest in the history of the program. The series began during the 1971-1972 season with a victory for the Red, 64-24.
