Marissa Amiraian - Softball
After posting a batting average of .400 in limited action last year, center fielder Marissa Amiraian is on track to eclipse that mark in 2011 out of the leadoff spot in Cornell’s lineup. The senior tri-captain has played in every game for the Red this season and leads the team in batting average, runs scored and on-base percentage.
Mickey Brodsky - Baseball
Mickey Brodsky has posted the sixth highest batting average (.341) in the baseball program’s history. Over his career, Brodsky has also set five other records for the Red, including highest on-base percentage (.443). Brodsky has received All-Ivy League honors three times during his college career.
McKay Claghorn - Squash
In his third season as a co-captain for the Red, Claghorn was a model of consistency, posting an 8-8 record on the year at the No. 8 spot in the lineup. Although his mark fell from 12-5 in 2009-10, Claghorn remained a steady force and leader on the Belkin Courts.
Kelsey Craig - Equestrian
Equestrian captain Kelsey Craig has enjoyed a strong run since joining the team as a freshman. Craig rode in 10 shows for the Red during her sophomore year, earning 13 Top-3 finishes. At the 2011 Ivy show, she placed third in the open fences event and first in open flat, which resulted in Craig being named an Ivy champion.
Joe Devin - Men's Hockey
The 6-1 winger out of Scituate, Mass. had a flare for the dramatics throughout his senior campaign, notching three overtime goals, including the game-winner against Quinnipiac that sent Cornell to the ECAC playoff semifinal. Co-captain Joe Devin led the Red in scoring with 17 goals, six of which were game-winners, and earned second-team All-ECAC honors.
Max Feely - Men's Lacrosse
A long stick midfielder and regarded as one of the top one-on-one defenders in the country, Max Feely has been the cornerstone of the Red’s defense in his four years at Cornell. A preseason All-American, Feely was awarded his first career All-Ivy first-team honor during his senior season.
Andy Gauthier - Men's Tennis
Gauthier served as a tri-captain for the men’s team this year. He earned first-team All-Ivy in singles in 2010 as well as unanimous first-team All-Ivy honors in doubles. This year, Gauthier was able to help make Cornell history, leading the team to its first-ever Ivy League title. Gauthier also earned a first-team All-Ivy seelction again this season, making him the first to win two years in a row since 1985.
Sinziana Chis - Women's Tennis
Chis was the captain of the team for the 2010-11 season. Although she did not compete her junior year and had to take off much of her sophomore year due to injury, Chis proved to be a major asset to the team when she came back this year, leading the Red to a 9-11 overall record.
Max Constant - Men's Polo
The captain of the men’s polo team took the Red to the USPA National Championships in his senior season. A four-time Sun Top Athlete honoree, leading scorer Max Constant will depart East Hill as one of the winningest riders in program history with a record of 54-18. He was also honored as a Regional All Star four times and a National All Star three times – an award given to four players per year nationally.
Elizabeth Dalrymple - Softball
Tri-captain Elizabeth Dalrymple continued her dominance on the mound in 2011, compiling 19 wins and a minuscule 1.88 ERA. The two-time Ivy League Pitcher of the Year has been especially durable in her senior year, throwing 186 innings en route to the Red’s third consecutive Southern Division title.
Nate Edelman - Cross Country
Edelman, who didn’t pick up running until his senior year of high school, finished 13th in the 10k at the NCAA Northeast Regional. The senior was also a second-team All-Ivy League honoree and finished 14th at the Heptagonal Championships.
Emani Fenton - Football
Cornerback Emani Fenton’s senior season at Cornell was arguably his best, as the second-team All-Ivy selection recorded five interceptions in 10 games to lead the Red secondary. Fenton also earned an invitation to the FCS Senior Bowl, and was named a team MVP at the end of the season.
Dean Holcomb - Swimming
Holcomb served as a tri-captain in his final season in Ithaca and earned All-Ivy honors in the 400 IM — an event in which Holcomb holds the Cornell all-time record — by finishing second at the Ivy League championships. He also finished 10th in the 200 free.
Hayley Hughes - Women's Hockey
Forward Hayley Hughes experienced her best year at Cornell in her final season on East Hill, scoring 17 goals and assisting on 18 more. Hughes added four goals on the power play and recorded three game-winners en route to the Frozen Four in 2010-11.
Libby Johnson - Women's Lacrosse
Johnson was a tri-captain for the Red and scored 20 goals while dishing out seven in her senior season. She tallied her 130th career point, and moved into a tie for 10th place all-time at Cornell with a goal in the Red’s upset of No. 2 Florida in the season finale.
David Lau - Men's Lacrosse
Transitioning from a midfielder to the attack, David Lau has enjoyed a breakout senior season. After being named second-team All-Ivy, the attacker has set his career high records for the Red in goals (21), assists (12) and points (33). Lau was named the Ivy League Player of the Week after leading Cornell to a 13-12 victory at Harvard on April 9.
Maddie Pearsall - Gymnastics
Pearsall has been a starter for the past three years and has the third-highest all-around score in Cornell history. The team’s top scorer in uneven bars, Pearsall has been a USAG All-American six times, and was even ESPN The Magazine second-team Academic America selection. She has also been a first-team academic all-district pick for the past two years.
Colin Smith - Heavyweight Rowing
Captain Colin Smith has been an asset to the Varsity 8 boat for three years, serving as the only sophomore during the 2009 season. While also known for his impressive power-weight ratio, Smith’s coach has described him as being a strong leader whose determination and hard work drives the other members of the team to want to achieve greatness.
Chris Tait - Men's Track and Field
A hard-worker who transitioned from running short sprints to long sprints over his collegiate career, Tait was a co-captain and led by example for the Red track team. He was part of a quartet that placed fourth in the 4 x 400 relay at the Millrose Games on Jan. 28 and second in the same event at the Outdoor Upstate Challenge with a 47.8-second segment.
Matt Jaye - Golf
Jaye was the team’s low scorer of the year, posting four individual Top-10 finishes and six Top-20 efforts. He was the team’s top finisher in four out of seven team tournaments and placed 13th overall in the Ivy League championships.
Justin Kerber - Wrestling
Justin Kerber has been at the center of the Red’s climb to the top of college wrestling, qualifying for the NCAAs twice and attending the EIWA championships in all four years. He is also a three-time NWCA All-Acedemic team honoree.
Karlee Overguard - Women's Hockey
Assistant captain Karlee Overguard secured her fourth straight 20-point season as the Red returned to the Frozen Four for the second year in a row. The forward appeared in 127 games in her career at Cornell, the most ever in program history.
Tyler Roezler - Men's Hockey
After a slow start to the season, left wing Tyler Roeszler took the ECAC by storm down the stretch, finishing second on the Red with 12 goals scored. The senior received the Mark Weiss Memorial Award at the team’s annual banquet in honor of his efforts both on and off the ice.
Kimberley Standridge - Women's Track and Field
Standridge, one of the women’s track captains for the 2010-11 season, earned All-American honors by finishing ninth in the 800m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships during her junior year. At the NCAA first-round in Greensboro, her 2:05.37 mark became the third best in outdoor school history. Sandridge also sits at sixth all time in the indoor 800m and ninth in the 1000m at Cornell.
Lizzie Wisner - Women's Polo
Lizzie Wisner capped off her Cornell career with an undefeated record and a USPA National Championship in her senior season. With Wisner leading the way, the No. 1 Red went 21-0 in 2011 and defeated Virginia, 18-12, in the title game in front of the home crowd at Oxley Equestrian Center.
