Colgate 45, Football 23
The setting changed but the outcome certainly didn't; for the second year in a row, Colgate's offense physically overwhelmed Cornell's defense. The Raiders logged 561 total yards, 344 on the ground. The three-headed rushing attack of junior quarterback Greg Sullivan (84 rushing yards and one touchdown) and sophomore running backs Jordan McCord (98 rushing yards and two touchdowns) and Nate Eachus (129 rushing yards and three touchdowns) netted an average of 5.7 yards per carry and accounted for 20 of Colgate's 32 first downs — Cornell had just 15 total first downs.
More often than not, Colgate's runners broke at least one tackle, and linebackers Chris Costello and Brandon Lainhart came up with the bulk of Cornell's stops, with 13 and 15, respectively.
Senior quarterback Ben Ganter went 16-for-32 with an interception and a touchdown pass to senior running back Randy Barbour. Junior cornerback Emani Fenton recovered a fumble for a touchdown.
Yale 1, Field hockey 0
For the first time this year, the field hockey team fell short in a close situation. After winning its last four contests by one-goal margins, Cornell came out on the wrong end of a 1-0 overtime decision. Yale's Erin Carter scored on a penalty corner 1:43 into overtime to end the Red's season-opening winning streak at seven games.
