Cornell’s athletics department announced yesterday the process for students to obtain season tickets for the men’s hockey team. Similar to years past, a lottery system will be used, although there have been changes made to the rules about which students are eligible for different blocks of tickets.
The athletics department has set aside 250 tickets in a special block for graduate and professional students. These students will be able to sit in sections B, D and G. The next block is 100 tickets and is limited to undergraduate students participating in the ticket selection process for the fourth time. Students participating for the third time will have an available block of 300 tickets, and two-time participants will have 400 tickets available to them. For first-timers, there are 550 tickets set aside. Any undergraduate may enter the last block regardless of his or her eligibility for the other his or her eligibility for the other blocks.
Students will be able to pick up line numbers from the Athletic Department ticket office in Bartels Hall beginning on Sept. 21. The office will issue line numbers from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Sept. 25. Seat selection will begin on Oct. 3. This year’s season tickets cost $247.
The other main change in the ticket selection process is the elimination of the “camp out.” Concerns about H1N1 influenza prompted the change. The Ramin Room in Bartels Hall, where the camp out is traditionally held, may be used by the University or Tompkins County in the event of a flu pandemic.
