Yesterday, the University announced the death of Rion Wight ’09. Wight, who has been on academic leave for the past two years, “died unexpectedly” Wednesday, wrote dean of Architecture, Art and Planning Kent Kleinman in a letter to the AAP community yesterday.
This is the fourth student death this semester. Boon Joon Lim ’13 was found dead in his dorm room last week. Warren Schor ’11 died from H1N1 complications in September. David Yang ’11 passed away in a car accident in Missouri a few days before the term began.
“The death of a student affects the entire Cornell community, and I know that all of us send our deepest expressions of sympathy to Rion’s parents, family and friends,” wrote vice president for student and academic services Susan Murphy ‘74 in a message to the Cornell community released yesterday.
To help the community through this difficult time, the University is offering a support meeting for Rion’s friends this evening at 5p.m. in 157 East Sibley.
