At this weekend's New York City meeting, the University's Board of Trustees elected Peter C. Meinig '62 to Chair the Board. Meinig, the chair and chief executive officer of HM International Inc. of Tulsa, Okla., will succeed Harold Tanner '52, who has served as chairman since 1997, when his term begins on July 1.

"We are fortunate to have a dedicated and hard working board, which provides thoughtful policy guidance to the University. We have a world-class faculty and 19,000 of our nation's best students," Meinig stated in a Cornell news release.

President Hunter R. Rawlings III and the University administration are "quite delighted with the selection," said Henrik N. Dullea '61, vice president for University relations.

"[Meinig] is a capable and experienced board member with a great love for Cornell and an ability to get things done," Rawlings stated in a University press release.
