The annual Cornell Engineering Research Conference took place in Duffield hall on April 3, 2009. This conference was organized by engineering graduate students and gave M. Eng. and Ph.D. students a venue to showcase their current research to the students and faculty in attendance.

This conference, unlike many others in the engineering school, spanned applied research from a wide range of engineering departments at Cornell University.

The conference was sponsored by Becton, Dickinson and Company, Exponent and Lockheed Martin.

Research presented spanned a wide range of topics including energy efficiency, robotics and cancer research. For some students, the conference was an opportunity to gain visibility for their research. Nicole Ceci grad, team leader of the AguaClara project team, said that by displaying research at conferences such as the CERC, “we try to recruit new members and raise awareness” for the AguaClara project team.

Many students did poster presentations of their research, while some Ph.D. students gave oral presentations about research applicable in the areas of sustainable development, networks, nanotechnology, systems biology and biomedical engineering. Science FairScience Fair
