Every semester, we all start a new courseload, with new topics, new assignments and — perhaps most importantly — new professors. But while we see these men and women in the front of our classrooms and lecture halls, we rarely venture into their private domains — their offices. This week, Keri Blakinger explores the offices of faculty and staff members across the University, discovering some fun and quirky items that different professors keep in their private domains.
If your interest in professors ends with class every day, check out our fashion page, where we bring you our pick for best dressed student of the week and some musings on Daze’s favorite accessory, the cocktail ring. If you’re looking for a bite to eat, Sun Senior Editor Sammy Perlmutter ’10 investigates the complexities of the hamburger in Ithaca Bites.
If you’ve always wondered what a groundhog is, or about its Ithaca equivalent, Allie Perez ’10 brings us her comparison between the woodchuck and the squirrel, in celebration of the recent Groundhog Day. We’re hoping that the little guy misses his shadow and brings us some warm spring weather sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, though, keep warm with Daze. And as always, we would love to hear what you think. Just send an e-mail to lkemmett@cornellsun.com, and tell us what you think about our new content and design
Cheers,
Leigha Kemmett
