Stump the Sun

Remember in Rocky III when Clubber Lang trained ferociously in that grubby basement? That was my summer, but replace boxing with sports trivia. I am ready to provide you all with the best sports trivia possible.

So here is how this section is going to work. Every week, I will come up with a number of trivia questions. Some questions will be so easy that Britney Spears could get them right; others will be so hard that they will make trivia masters break into night terrors. If you think you know the answer to any of my questions, log onto cornellsun.com to check. Also, if there are any budding trivia gurus out there, send your sports trivia questions, along with your name and year, to michael.mix@cornelldailysun.com. If your question stumps The Sun, we will include the question as well as your name in a future edition of Stump The Sun.

Anyway, onto this week’s set of trivia questions. Since this is the beginning of the semester, I thought this week’s theme would be beginnings. Creative, I know.

1. Before transferring to Indiana State, what college did Larry Bird originally attend?

2. What was the original name of the Houston Astros when they entered the National League?

3. Before starring with the Minnesota Vikings, with what team did Cris Carter begin his NFL career?

4. In what year was the Ivy League formed?

5. Who won the first ever Ivy League football championship?
