To the Editor:
Re: "Cornell Greens Watch Ithaca's Environment," News, Sept. 14 Thank you very much for writing about the Greens and the myriad of environmental issues with which they deal. By kicking off your series on Cornell's student activities with a feature on the Greens, you have brought environmental issues to the forefront which are not only timely but contain simple steps that can be taken by everyone, not just members of the organizations. Furthermore, the perspective of the Cornell Greens as an organization is representative of the perspectives of so many Cornell students, who look to tackle problems on both a local and national level. As such, they were an excellent choice with which to begin your series.
As a member of Kyoto Now!, I am very pleased to see environmental issues being brought to the attention of the Cornell community. Beyond that, however, I am pleased to see that the issues are presented in the context of being active on campus. I would like to encourage those students interested in additional issues to check out any of Cornell's other environmental groups, such as Kyoto Now!, which focuses its efforts on cleaner, more efficient energy policies, or the Society for Natural Resources Conservation, which works on issues related to environmental conservation. Any step taken toward caring for the environment is appreciated, but getting involved with Cornell's green community is even better!
