Bo Burnham Offends and Amuses

Allie Miller  —  Sep 23, 2009

You know you’re in for an interesting show when the first song is titled “My Whole Family Thinks I’m Gay.” And Bo Burnham didn’t disappoint by leaving out anything raunchy, satirically racial or taboo.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the YouTube sensation, Bo (short for Robert) Burnham, would be the love child of Shakespeare and ”Werid Al” Yankovic; his lyrics are filled with raunchy, yet hysterical, puns that leave the audience questioning their own morals. At the young age of 19, Bo has already established himself as an Internet cultural sensation, even garnering the attention of Judd Apatow and penning a musical for him. Bo is currently on tour promoting his self-titled album, produced by Comedy Central.

Good Taste in Bad Music — The Nineties

Julia Woodward  —  Sep 11, 2009

I’ve noticed a theme in my writings for the Sun thus far this year. And it goes a little something like this (which, by the way, is a line from an Aaron Carter song): ahhhhhhhhhhhh! Holy f-ing shit! I have to join the real world so soon! Ahhhhhhh! Etc., etc., many exclamation points … you get the drill. I have decided the best way to deal with this is just not to think about it, as you might have gathered from how much I have done about applying to jobs and grad school, or studying for the GREs. Hint: it rhymes with hero. And it’s like the opposite of a hero. And I’m pretty sure that’s a line from Disney’s version of Hercules. Many inadvertent and ridiculous song references today. Odd.

YouFail: A Generation of Stupid People Doing Stupid Things for All to See

Daniel Eichberg  —  Apr 1, 2009

It was the night of the second Orgo Prelim, a test even harder than the lap of a shopping mall Santa. In fact, it was so hard that they actually modeled Viagra off of the exam. I returned home after the test clutching my posterior, which was sore from the violent act of domination the test delivered to my ass.

When I arrived home, I decided to make my famous Bathtub Toast to help ease the pain. I was about to climb into the tub with the toaster when something that sounded like a goat giving birth stopped me. After all, I couldn’t go to the big Carbon Atom in the sky while listening to what seemed to be the dying squeals of a pig in a slaughterhouse. I went down the hall to investigate.

Does YouTube Prevent or Promote Crime?

Sara Furguson  —  Oct 2, 2009

I’m sure most of us have wasted an unspeakable amount of time on YouTube or even posted videos that we regret the next morning, but besides serving as a distraction to our stressful lives, YouTube may actually serve a purpose. While we all have different ideas about the purpose of the video broadcasting website, some believe that it actually brings justice to our society. However, YouTube can also demonstrate activities that will likely land you in jail.
