Since ground broke on Gates Hall in March, professors said they are eagerly awaiting the new $60 million computing and information sciences building, which they hope will promote greater collaboration between the Departments of Computer Science and Information Science.

The site plan review for Gates Hall — the last city approval necessary for the building’s construction — was unanimously approved by the City of Ithaca Planning and Development Board at a meeting Tuesday. 

The University further detailed its plans for the William H. Gates Hall Computing and Information Science Building at a meeting of the Ithaca Planning and Development Board Tuesday night. The building will be located next to Hoy Field.

Pritzker Prize-winning architect Thom Mayne will be designing a new computing and information sciences building in the heart of Central Campus.
