Common Council Awards Kenneth Glover, Former Ujamaa Director, for Work in City

On Feb. 1, Common Council awarded Kenneth Glover, the residence hall director in the Schuyler House and former Ujamaa housing director, this year’s J. Diann Sams Award, for his “outstanding leadership, courage against unspeakable odds and an unwavering vision” in the City of Ithaca, according to a resolution passed by the council.

Students Redesign Ithaca Creek Trail

The Downtown Ithaca Alliance and the Collegetown Neighborhood Council have enlisted DesignConnect, a student organization, to work on Ithaca-area design and urban planning projects this semester. Students are slated to be at the forefront of planning expansions to the Six Mile Creek walk.

City Rejects Memorial for Nathaniel Rand ’12

City Districting Commission Mulls Student Vote

Local officials said at a meeting of Ithaca's redistricting commission on Wednesday that low student voter turnout could lead to the elimination of a city district overwhelmingly populated by students. Several proposals to reorganize the city's districting were discussed at the meeting.

We hope Myrick’s decision to tackle this problem is evident of a leader looking to improve the department both internally and in its dealings with the citizens of Ithaca.
