Though Passover is not one of my favorite holidays, I do enjoy participating in the Seder. Each year that I've been at Cornell I've gone to my advisor's house to partake in the Passover traditions with him and his family. It's not a huge group sitting around the table - usually around 15 people - and each year has a somewhat different vibe to it; but it always feels warm and homey. When asked by friends where I was in lieu of Hillel's Barton Hall Super Seder, I received quizzical looks upon giving my answer. It seemed to them that the idea of eating at a professor's house, let alone being welcomed into their family's religious traditions, was absolutely preposterous.

In truth, I know nothing of Matthew Pearlstone. I never saw him. I never met him. If we crossed paths, he was nothing more than one of the hundreds of anonymous faces I pass on this campus every day, blurring together like leaves viewed through the window of a moving car. I have no memory of him. He was nothing to me.
Weill of Ignorance
April 15, 2004 - 7:00pmSadly, Citigroup Chairman Sanford I. Weill '55 faced few tough questions at Cornell this week during his gleeful address to an auditorium packed with students who idolize the 162nd richest person in America. The Johnson Graduate School of Management's Rick Sweeney told the Sun that Weill is "a model for anyone at Cornell." But Weill was behind some of the worst corporate scandals in history during his five years as CEO of Citigroup, which paid $400 million in fines -- more than any other Wall Street firm.
